Renewal2 Successfully Exits Aquatic Informatics – Delivering Good Return Financially and Ecologically

Jul 11, 2017

Aquatics Informatics has sold a majority position to XPV Water Partners – a specialized water technology Fund – creating a successful exit for Renewal2 partners.

Renewal2 is proud of this positive conclusion to one of our earliest investments, which delivered a good return financially and ecologically.

Aquatics’ platform allows researchers and policy makers to make informed decisions regarding scarce surface fresh-water resources for effective conservation and use. The partnership with XPV, which amalgamates Aquatic Informatics with WaterTrax and Linko Technology, is ‘one of the most important business combinations in recent history for water professionals looking to partner with a single software leader to solve their complex water challenges.’

Renewal Funds is honoured to have provided early-stage capital to support a company with such an important environmental impact, and to have found an exit partner that will help grow that mission.

As the sole institutional investor, Renewal2 supported the Company’s growth through multiple funding rounds, product extensions, and geographical expansions. Mike Cormack, who represented Renewal2 on the Board of Directors said, “Renewal Funds is very proud of our 7 year partnership with Ed and the team at Aquatics. It is a privilege to have supported the team in their mission to be the host and manager of the planet’s environmental data. We have worked with Aquatics through their journey to become an international authority in the freshwater management space and we fully support this next, exciting stage in their growth.  We look forward to the next chapter.”
