Vancouver, BC. September 9,2016 || Renewal Funds, a founding Canadian B Corp, is a mission venture capital firm based on Vancouver, BC. Renewal Funds invests in early-stage businesses that have a significant environmental and social impact. This is the second time Renewal Funds has been honored as “Best for the World” for creating the most positive overall impact.

The “B Corp Best for the World” list honors businesses that earned an overall score in the top 10% of all 1,800 Certified B Corporations on the B Impact Assessment, a rigorous and comprehensive audit a company’s impact on its workers, the community, and the environment. Renewal Funds holds a company score 55% higher than what is needed to get certified.

“We became a B Corp to support the movement towards a transparent and robust community of triple bottom line businesses,” said CEO, Paul Richardson. “Having standards such as those that B Corp Companies comply with will provide a way to measure and account for the social and environmental impacts that these businesses have, track their success and help attract new capital to this space.”

B Corps standards are central to the Renewal Funds business model. Renewal Funds encourages and assists their portfolio companies to also get certified. Alter Eco has been named a “Best for the World Company” four years in a row. Seventh Generation, another Renewal portfolio company, was named “Best for the World Workers”. Across the board, the companies is Renewal’s portfolio hold a higher than average B Impact Assessment score. Other portfolio company B Corps are Aquatic Informatics, Better Bean, PRANA, Sensible Organics, and SPUD.ca.
